Rust Repair

BEWARE:

WE DO NOT WARRANTY REPAIRS ON RUST OR CORRODED PANELS

We write our rust repair estimates to give you the best bang for your buck, value for your money but do not guarantee the rust will not come back. Think of it like a cancer; you can treat it and it may go into remission, but unless it is cut out of the body, it will inevitably return.

Unless the vehicle has great sentimental value, it is almost never worth it to have rust repair work done as the cost is substantial and the corrosion will return.

We perform 1 of 3 levels of rust repair:

  • Fiberglass

Depending on the level of corrosion in the panel, there may be enough material to grind out the corrosion and use waterproof fiberglass to fill in the imperfections. This is typically done by other shops but instead of using a fiberglass material, they use a filler “bondo” that will suck up water and bubble a few days after the repair.

The corrosion may return eventually with this method.

  • Patch Panel

The corroded area is traced over to create a template, then cut out and removed. The template is placed over a metal plate and cut out and shaped as close as possible to the original cut panel and welded in. It is then primed, sealed and painted followed by a cavity wax coating.

The corrosion will eventually return with this method.

  • Panel Replacement

The panel is replaced or sectioned with a new OEM replacement part, an additional E-Coat, seam sealer, high build restoration primer and coated with cavity wax to prevent rust.
